Spring is Here!

I love Spring! It’s my season… joyfully romantic and hopelessly hopeful. Wisteria blooming, soft lavender. Have you ever taken the time to look closely at it, stopped at a tide pool or on a white sandy beach to look at the tiny wonders you might be missing?

There’s so much there when we stoop down, lean over and take the time to revel in the beauty of nature.

And, for me, Spring is it’s opening act.

When I was little, there was chaos in every season in my family. Being outside in nature saved my life and wrapped itself around me when I needed that. Spring opened the door to long days outside where I could dig in the dirt, pretend to plant a garden and wait for my Granddaddy to put in a real garden for me.

A May baby, every year my Mother pulled out the red checked table cloth, bought a store-bought cake with white fluffy lard-based icing, pink hard candy roses and my whole name on it. She was always careful to cut a piece for the birthday girl first so I was sure to get the piece with “Donna” on it. In that moment, life was beautiful.

What spring memories do you have? Allow yourself to recall the beauty Spring brings to life and celebrate it. Spring begs us to begin again, remember joy and have faith that everything we desire and deserve is blooming.

Happy, Happy Spring!

The winter I was stationed @ Osan AFB, Korea, was so cold. I stepped out of my BOQ one morning in March and saw the beautiful forsythia peeking out of the snow. I was so happy winter was over, tears welled up in my eyes !
