Finding Grace

grace and frankie

I am the first to agree that television is mostly crap these days. And yet, occasionally Aaron Sorkin or some other brilliant writer moves me from “Jaded and Disgusted” to “OMG!”

When I find that sweet spot in an amazing series, I fit all the criteria for an addict. “Just one more”, I say, having to prop my eyelids open with toothpicks to stay awake.

My latest “fix” was the discovery of “Grace and Frankie” on Netflix. Thank God for one of those obnoxious banners that blinks and screams when you go to the site or I would have blown right by it. I took one look at Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin and from there on, I was a goner.

I won’t do a spoiler alert here because I want you to turn your computer off right now and go check it out! Then we can talk.

You will laugh ’til you cry as you discover the grace in these characters one episode at the time. Tender mercy even in the pain of great change and loss.

Ignore everything you have been told about television having nothing to offer, that you can’t watch it in the daytime, that it has to be PBS.  Grab a bag of popcorn and be sure you are near the bathroom. Enjoy “Grace and Frankie”. Let me know what you think.
